Can You See the Bottom of Lake Tahoe?

No, because the recorded depth of the Lake has been as much as 1645 feet. It’s one of the deepest lakes in the world.

Well, what about the Tahoe real estate market ….has that bottomed? It depends who you talk to. Recent sales figures represent what some analysts call the “less-worse” syndrome. Sales are worse than last year, but less so than they were last month. That’s a good thing.

The general consensus is that the general economy is no longer in a free fall. Again, a good thing. A fire doesn’t suddenly stop burning. It is contained over time and gradually burns itself out. And that is where we are now.

The point is that the Tahoe real estate market is heating up. And more to the point, there is only so much to go around. That’s a great thing!

Lake Tahoe - water... water.... everywhere

Lake Tahoe is reknown for being one of the purest lakes in the world. But that doesn't stop bottled water from flying off the shelves at Tahoe grocery stores.

A water conservation specialist claims "it's like buying air" and environmental studies say "there is no comparison, tap water is far superior. It doesn't have to be transported, bottled, and doesn't come into contact with contaminants like plastics." A spokesperson for the International Bottled Water Association (yes, there is such a person) says, "bottled water is the healthiest packaged beverage" and yet an international study conducted just last year found that 76.6 percent of bottled water was contaminated vs. 36.4 percent of tap water.

So is it just a question of masterful marketing that has expanded the average supermarket water aisle from what used to be on average 12 ft to over 20 ft? Hard to know.

All I can say is Lake Tahoe water is fabulous. How do you like it? On tap or bottled?

Lake Tahoe isn't just "blue sky"

Three exciting new real estate developments are slated for South Lake Tahoe, just past the Stateline corridor. In a conscious effort to keep Tahoe "blue" all of the projects are going "green".

Just last week, Sierra Colina Village, situated on 18 lushly wooded acres was approved for 50 residential high quality homes and will be seeking Platinum certification through the US Green Building Council.

Across Highway 50 is the soon to be built Tahoe Beach Club development which received the green light several months ago. Boasting exclusive waterfront and lakeview condominiums and estate homes, it will offer residents and visitors a beautiful sandy beach, pool, dock, and, of course, full Beach Club membership.

The neighboring world-class Edgewood Golf Club is the next on the docket. Their plans include construction of a 200+ room upscale lodge. Golf course architect Tom Fazio is consulting on the renovation of this premier West Coast golf facility.

Let me know whether you're into "blue sky" or "greener pastures".
